Diving Back In - Can't Get Enough (The Gospel Version)

I havent been super great about keeping things updated on, well, pretty much everything lol. I think I needed to let my youtube channel and my website just breathe for a bit. But I'm back and planning a whole new slew of videos and content! Today I wanted to share the alternative version of my song, Cant Get Enough. I had a TON of fun with this and I hope you genuinely enjoy it!!!

His Presence Like an Ocean: Too Tired To Sing

There are some morning I get up and genuinely need a boost.  Not just from that first cup of delicious, hot, steaming, perfectly brewed, cup of coffee, but a REAL boost.  This is one of those mornings for me.  I've been running around like crazy with little time to slow down and rest at all.  This coming weekend will be one of the first weekends in the past couple months that I'll actually have some substantial chill time with my wife and daughter (and date night!).

So what do I do when I get to that point of exhaustion?  I press in.

When I feel that I don't have the mental, physical, or spiritual energy to sing I simply soak.  Some of my closest friends have heard me use this term countless times.

Soak: 1. to lie in and become saturated or permeated with water or some other liquid.

2. to penetrate or become known to the mind or feelings.

The incredible thing about God's presence is that it's actually tangible to us!  I've always loved the imagery of His presence being like an ocean, like water, and I'm often floating on my back near the surface when His desire for me is to just let myself sink in to His depths.

If you find yourself in that place today, where you are just tired, and you need to rest and soak in the amazing, healing, refreshing, presence of your Father then tune in to this video.  I've been a big fan of Bethel Church and the worship that comes out of that house, both musically and spiritually.  I love seeing the prophetic nature of His spirit come pouring out of His people as they worship and that happens in this video.  So sit back and let His water wash over you, drowning your exhaustion, refreshing and recharging your body, mind and spirit.

Worship Music is Getting Dubstep'd & I LOVE IT

Dub step is one of those things that I think you either love or hate.  I once saw an episode of King of the Hill where Hank Hill asked his son, Bobby, what he was listening to.  When Bobby placed his, very 1990's, headphones on his dads ears Hanks expression changed to one of shock and horror as he exclaimed, "It's just a bunch of toilet noises!"

Well I don't agree with good ol' Hank Hill, because I have a special place in my heart for Dubstep.  This music not only has the ability to amp me up, I have a playlist I use when I go running, but also has served to help me focus and block out distractions.  Beyond that, there is an insane amount of creativity and musicality that is put in to this genre!  I would challenge anyone who airs on the side of Hank Hill to prove me otherwise.  The detail that goes in to something like this, without completely understanding all of it, has got to be insane!  If the artist is using samples of songs for their mix they have to often bend and re-tune it to fit the mix.  On top of that they have to understand how to work with waves.  Then there is the process of actually putting all of this together in to a product that thumps you in the chest like an external heartbeat.

Anywho,
I love Dubstep and I am EXCITED by the fact that some worship music has been getting a makeover.  That's right folks!  Worship Dubstep!  I recently came across a great YouTube channel that's specifically for showcasing the best in Christian Dubstep.  Check it out!

The Daily Tune: Holly Starr

I literally JUST came across Holly Starr & I am officially an insta-fan.
It's like someone took Francesca Battistelli's voice and combined it with Colbie Caillat, tossed in some Sarah Bareilles, hit blend, and just sat back to enjoy the flavor.

Holly Starr is a fantastic contemporary Christian artist that I will absolutely be tuning in to often!

The Daily Tune: Kurt Carr - Worship Medley

The human voice is a truly amazing thing.  When it's blended together with tight vocal harmony and paired with songs written by the great Kurt Carr it becomes something entirely different and special.

Sam Robson has become one of my all time favorite Youtube artists.  This is a man who has taken his talent and sharpened it into a true skill.  This guy is a true gem!  Your ears will NOT be left wanting.

The Daily Tune: Stay - Rihanna feat Mikky Ekko - Jennifer Newberry feat. Rocky Sandoval

This is one of Seattle's best folks... Well, I guess she actually belongs to Sweden, but she lived here for a bit and has moved on to LA as she continues pursuing her passion.  If you think her cover is good, you NEED to see her live!
Jennifer Newberry will melt your face with a voice that's equal parts butter and smoke.  You NEED to get in on her music!  You may have seen her as a contestant on The Voice just a short while back as well.

Here is the official video cover of Rihanna's "Stay".

One of the Best in Acapella

I love going hunting.  It's a thrill I will never get tired of.
While I don't actually shoot anything, I do click all over the place and what I discover is some of the best sounds that have ever graced my ears.

The group I'm sharing with you today is a conglomerate of 6 guys from 6 different countries.  They all share a HUGE passion for tight vocal harmony and, without telling their whole story, started the AMAZING group, Accent.

If you do not stop to listen to them, you should be slapped in the mouth repeatedly with an angry porcupine.

It's like bacon for your ears: music by All Things New

How much do I love this sound? Probably more than Hulk Hogan loves ripping shirts-------------------------------------------------------->

There is something that's so comfy and delicious about worship music that is, though very well produced, raw and honest.  This is a perfect example of the type of tunes I relentlessly search for and latch on to.  It also makes me want to play banjo and harmonica, neither of which you would want to hear me play right now unless you like bleeding ears and brain aneurisms.

Bottom line,
listen to the tune.  Buy their music.  If your ears were a mouth, it would be like listening to Oreo's dipped in peanut butter. (don't diss it till you try it.) Or maybe bacon. Everybody likes bacon.

Marcel the Shell's 'Landslide' Cover

Anyone who has seen the Marcel videos knows that the little shell is quite the hoot.  While I can't say that this short cover is "genius", I did get a pretty good giggle out of it.

I totes did this song one time, on video, for that show with the germaphobic bald guy

So I did an audition video a number of years back for America's Got Talent.  I love how the video turned out, but never actually got around to submitting the video. *virtual facepalm*

This is an original song that I actually got to record during my time with Sweatshop Studios, but never officially released the tune in the end.  I do plan on revamping this in the near future, but for now please enjoy the remnant of "Sanctuary".
