Thoughts on New Songs, Popular Songs, and Undiscovered Songs

Finding new songs (good ones) can be a big challenge at times... Ok, most of the time, at least for me.  The field is FLOODED with a wash of music from people just trying to get the right foothold.  So how do we search for and find new material?

Here is a great article from The Worship Community addressing this very issue.

Leading Your Band – Practical Ways To Shepherd Your Band (Via Verge Network)

As a worship leader, having been shepherded by many different types of leaders and pastors, I've found that one of the most important things you can do to lead your band is to place relationship with them above their serving on your team.  I've been victim of, and perpetrated, the types of relationships that are always tinged with something having to do with their service to the team.  Your people need to know that you want relationship with them even if they're not playing a single line or singing a single verse.  You shepherd the heart first.

Here is a great article from one of my favorite sources:

Mumford & Sons Evolves

"We felt that doing the same thing just wasn’t for us," Marcus Mumford says of the band's electric third LP. ~Rolling Stone

What happens when a band or artist evolves?  I don't think it's anything like those weird little monsters in that video game I played when I was a kid.  What was it called?  Pokeeman?  Ok, I'll be totally honest and admit that I am quite familiar with the game and still to this day might, though I admit to nothing, pick up the ol' Gameboy and go for a few rounds of animal cruelty (cuz lets be honest).  BUT ANYWAY.

It is truly something amazing when a group can take what they've been and transform in to something totally new.  In this case, it looks like Mumford and Sons may be doing just that.  Relevant Magazine has some great insight in to the bands "all electric" album venture. Let's check it out!

The Daily Tune: Ridiculous Deliciousness. It's Dirty loops.

In past posts I may have mentioned Dirty Loops and all their ridiculousness, but I just had to do it again because they are deliciously ridiculous.  With a lead vocalist who not only smokes the keys like a cuban, but also pulls out vocals reminiscent of Stevie Wonder, a bass player who looks like he should be playing angry punk rock but throws down some of the most incredible bassiness you'll ever hear, and a drummer that can literally play anything, in any time signature, probably hanging upside down or floating in space.  These guys will melt your face off with their brand of Fusion.

The fact that they've covered such a great song makes this even better.

Dig in kids!
